AKTIONSARKIVET – Kampen fortsätter |
John Huntington och Per-Arne Sträng |
February 12, 2014 |

August 30, 2013 |
The database and its digital manifestations occur as new archival forms contributing to a redefinition of the historical narrative. The open-ended construction of the database allows a non-linear exploration of the content, opening new critical juxtapositions and angles from which one can make otherwise unreachable observations.
Taking the concept of the database as a starting point , Smolicki will atempt to construct one that sonically portrays the neighbourhood of Hökärangen. The database will consist of field recordings and interviews reflecting ongoing processes, characterizing the neighbourhood. The database will accomodate conflicting points, negative opinions and observations regarding the ongoing gentrification as well as records of the 'everyday life' aura and its undercurrent bio-rhythms. After the period dedicated to building the substance of the database, Smolicki will move on to its performative de/re-construction.
An open-ended audio installation enriched everyday with a new dose of accounts and field recordings at Cigarrvägen 13, will be open to public between 11-17h
Augmented spatiality was a public art project for the suburb of Hökarängen in Stockholm in which the artworks, performances and other comprised events were integrated into the social and spatial processes taking place in the public sphere. Curated by Maria Andueza

All life we know is based on the element carbon. For this reason all the molecules in which carbon and hydrogen atoms are included are called organic. Non-organic substances are therefore those substances containing any of the more than 110 other elements, except both carbon and hydrogen simultaneously. Nevertheless, we today know of more organic matter than non-organic. (Wikipedia)
This work started with staged events in a scorched landscape in between two of Madrid's outer suburbs. It has continued with a period of experimenting with images involving the element carbon, density, matter and non-visible materials.

Dimensions Of a Portrait |
Ami Kohara och Vika Eksta |
August 30, 2014 |
Vika Eksta is an artist based in Riga, Latvia.
She shows her series of works, which play with the conventions of documentary portrait photography searching for the alternative ways how to transmit the mood of the image and the essential qualities of the person who is portrayed. She has been doing this for five years in the meantime asking herself the questions below.
⁃ Does the portrait really tell something about the person who is photographed?
⁃ Does the portrait reveal the moment when the photograph was taken?
⁃ Does the portrait reveal the connection between the photographer and a model?
⁃ Does the portrait reveal more about the photographer’s state of mind or about the person who is photographed?
The works exhibited in cigarrvägen tretton reflects her research process. Each image has two or three "dimensions". First dimension is a portrait photo itself. Second dimension reinterprets the character as a sculptural object that is rephotographed it in the similar mood. Third dimension is a reinterpretation of the character and atmosphere by means of self-portraiture.
Vika Eksta’s exhibition at Cigarrvägen tretton takes place at the same time as an exhibition of works by artist Ami Kohara at Atelier123. Ami Kohara will contribute a piece of her work to Vika Eksta's exposition at Cigarrvägen tretton. These two overlapping exhibitions at two neighbouring art spaces in Hökarängen are the result of Vika Eksta and Ami Kohara collaboration - making new piece of art inspired by other’s work.

The Structure is a display for a live performance. It is a box for performing inside. If you stand inside the box and perform to the audience, the square opening in the box will frame the upper part of your body. Like this you can frame what you want the audience to see in your live performance. It is as if you are being filmed by a camera but it is live. It is a display for a live performance. It is a live close up for the audience to look at. You can frame what you want the audience to see.

Drawing dialog pieces |
Ingrid Ogenstedt och Anna Sörenson |
December 19, 2014 |

(THE LOOP)
By signing up to the dating web page I expected to find beloved naively thinking that it would not take much time and would be much easier then in real life. I started as a naïve user and ended up with art project. Maybe because I needed to find an excuse for myself for spending so much time on reading and replying thousand messages as well watching tones, often ridiculous pictures of the users, which somehow affected my visual perception.
At the exhibition I will present scaled paintings in which depicted a metaphor for the running body Ego, fear, sexual desire, pain, hope. As well an archive of recorded messages received from the users, which I turn into an elusive virtual animal.
I am from in Kyiv, live in Sigtuna. I studied at Umeå Academy of Fine Arts. At the moment I work on new exchange art projects and develop my ways of teaching Fine Arts for children and adults, combining my experiences received from different schools of Ukraine and Sweden. For me artistic practice combined with pedagogy means awakening of intellectual and spiritual potentials. By sharing knowledge with students I see it as essential element of my work, as an extension of my artistic practice rather than a separate activity.
I also work as an illustrator and have four books for kids published in Ukraine. Principally working as a painter for the last seven years, watercolor has been my main medium.

Finne fjell-grav deg ned i tide |
Line Anda Dalmar och Hilde Franzén |
May 15, 2015 |

Hot Beverages |
Ami Kohara, Erik Sjödin och Matti Sumari |
June 9, 2015 |

Hot Beverages
On the 9th June, Ami Kohara, Erik Sjödin and Matti Sumari will serve Shiso, Azolla and Chaga tea at Cigarrvägen 13. The tea will be served in a tea ceremony in the gallery space which will be turned into a ceremonial tea room.
The Chaga mushroom (Inonotus obliquus) is found on birch trees wherever they grow. The fungus is a parasitic species on birch trees and this lethal infection causes black, swelling outgrowths. These tumors have traditionally been used as tea, foremost in Russia. The tea is believed to have healing capacities, first introduced to a wide audience in the West through the Nobel Prize winner Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn's book Cancer Ward. During the last few years, tea made from the chaga mushroom has also been launched as an expensive food supplement and can now be found in health food stores. Scientific research has shown the tea to have anti-inflammatory and anti-tumor effects on humans. What can this wretched tumor tell us?
Azolla (Azolla filiculoides) is a water fern that grows on water surfaces in temperate and tropical regions. It is one of the world's fastest growing plants and a rich source of nutrients. Azolla is not commonly eaten today, but it has been suggested by Japanese Space Agriculture researchers as a potential food stuff for future Mars settlers. Departing from this research Erik Sjödin has since 2010 explored how the plant can be cultivated and cooked. Among other things he has concluded that dried Azolla quite successfully can be used for tea. The healthiness of eating or drinking Azolla is not well investigated. However, Azolla is used as a traditional cough medicine in Tanzania and it has been shown that cows that eat Azolla increase their milk production. There are some concerns that Azolla may contain BMAA, a neurotoxin that has been linked to neurodegenerative diseases. However, BMAA can also found in many common sea foods, for example Swedish clams, and is only toxic in large quantities. Drink at your own judgement.
Shiso (Perilla frutescens) is an Asian culinary herb which is a common food stuff in Japan. Shiso has been purported to have various beneficial qualities. It is used for a variety of conditions related to the respiratory system including asthma, nasal inflammation, and congestion from allergies and colds. It is also used to treat gastrointestinal conditions such as vomiting and morning sickness. Additionally, Shiso is said to promote a healthy immune system. In Asia Shiso is an ingredient in summer teas which are used to replenish energy and fluid drained by the summer heat. Let’s hope for good weather.

let’s pretend we live here |

October 25, 2013 |
Atelier 123/ Cigarrvägen Tretton/ Konstapoteket/ Lokalrätten
Constellation Projects is proud to present Let’s Pretend We Live Here, an exhibition featuring the work of Asbjørn Skou, Silvia Ospina, Carl-Oskar Linné, Marius Moldvær and Jakob Krajcik.
Amidst the proliferation of urban planning seminars and discussions of art’s role in the public sphere, the artists presented here choose to locate their work in the architectural psychosphere; imaginary spaces, non-places, and futures that could have been.
Let’s Pretend We Live Here reveals the urban environment to be both an active force and a stage to be acted upon. With nods to psychogeography and 19th century flâneur, Skou, Ospina, Linné, and Moldvær and Krajcik each question our perception of the urban environment. Mirrored worlds, eerily familiar but placeless sites, and recognizable landmarks-turned-ruins all describe the psychological tension between cityscape and inhabitant. Let’s Pretend We Live Here offers a closer look at the role of the imaginary in the construction and deconstruction of our image of the city.
As a practice in creative and institutional collaboration, the exhibition will open simultaneously at four different but nearby locations in Hökarängen, Stockholm on October 25th, 2013. Movement between the project rooms is a critical component of the exhibition. Cigarrvägen Tretton will feature PAPPERHUS, a series of architectural sculptures by Swedish artist Jakob Krajcik.
Within the series Constellation Projects, curators Sally Müller and Heather Jones strive to inspect and test the boundaries of collaborative curatorial and creative processes, as well as experiment with and challenge the expected exhibition format.

In my practice I work with performance and video installations based on relational and performative strategies. My work explores notions of identity and community. I was born in Tartu, Estonia and since 1997 I have been living and working in Norway. My activities relates to problematics of identity and community – how individual identity is connected to community and nationality, as well as how the individual participates and negotiates his/her place in the current collective culture. I am also interested in the representations of such identification processes – feelings, images, stories, memories and fantasies.

Raft/flotte |
Sara Alfredsson |
February 27, 2015 |
(english below)
SARA ALFREDSSON, bor i Ödsmål/ Göteborg.
//S. Alfredsson
SARA ALFREDSSON, based in Ödsmål/ Gothenburg, Sweden.
My work is based on observation of spatiality, landscape, architecture and form; which is re-constructed and reused within an evolutionary strategy.
I received my master’s degree from Umeå Academy of Fine Arts in 2012 and receive; the same year;
Iaspis 6 months studio grant in Stockholm and the Royal Skytteanska Fine Art award. I have, among others,
exhibited work at KKV, Gothenburg, Sweden (2014); Mölndal, Sweden (2014); Swedish Arts Grants Committee, Stockholn, Sweden (2013); Gallery Koch, Sten Wallenbergungsund (2013), Bildmuseet, Umeå, Sweden (2009,2012); Kurant, Tromsö, Norway (2009); Projektraum Bethanien, Berlin, Germany (2009); G60e, Detroit, USA (2008)
The exhibition Raft // Flotte, an installation based on Thédor Gericault’s painting “the Raft of the Medusa” (1819) which depicts the survivors of the shipwrecked vessel Le Médus outside Senegal coast in 1816.
The painting, an icon of French romanticism captures the moment when the few surviving sailors
detects their rescue, the Argus on July the 17th 1819, after 13 days of the raft. The shipwreck of Le Médus became a major public scandal, and Gericault’s painting where an indictment on the newly
installed French monarchy.
With the exhibition, Raft // Flotte, I have primarily studied the paintings composition, the historic event behind the work and been interested in our heritage from romanticism and its time period.
But continue my studies and interest in spatiality, focused on vast, open, depopulated areas as the desert and the sea.
The composition of “the Raft of the Medusa” is constructed upon two large overlapping triangles, that define the space and suggest both ships sails and the ocean waves. Inside the triangles we have sailors bodies - the living, the dying and the dead, old and young, black and white, women and men. The dead closest to the viewer and constructs the base of the triangles, upon the gradually stronger bodies climb upwards and towards the point of rescue, the ship Argus on the horizon. At this moment there is no heroism, no cause, there is no nationalism.

When you arrive we sit and chat over coffee in the entry room. It is a minimalist combination of kitchen, dining and social space. There is a compact wall of kitchen, a blond table and matching bench. It is a totally spare environment, but not a swoony, Johan Pawson kind of sparseness; it is simply efficient. Sitting there, I experience a degree of anxiety for what is to come that keeps me talking, having a second cup of coffee, delaying the move.

Resedagbok från ett stillastående liv |
Lisa Him Jensen |
October 23, 2014 |

In the exhibition Smoke Screen Alexandra Larsson Jacobson show photographic work whose themes revolves around the hidden and the exposed, light and darkness. In search of that which lies under the surface; the camera's gaze meets facades, natural backdrops, signs and painted faces.

Tall Tales examines narrative space and interpretive places through the work of the Icelandic artist Edda Mac. The exhibition presents an illustrative sculpture of ambiguous objects, figures, settings and atmospheres that stretch into sequences of moments and elusive storylines. Stream of thought texts by the writer Björn Leó Brynjarsson echo the visual stories of Edda Mac, creating a reversed dialogue written and drawn narratives.

The Line Looks Like Fruit |
Sara Wolfert |
May 30, 2015 |
Not too long ago, a hand written note signed Rudyard Kipling was sold at an auction in New York for a substantial sum. In the note the author confesses plagiarism. The note reads:
[...] In regard to my account of the Law of the Jungle ../../ . it is extremely possible that I have helped myself promiscuously but at present cannot remember from whose stories I have stolen.
In this recent work of animation and selected text, I linger at the well-known story of The Jungle Book, while approaching a specific history of Intellectual Property policy and its colonial heritage. In more detail: two release dates, 1893-1895 and 1967, juxtaposed with policy events around the same time. In addition to that, notions of “expanded” IP protection.
The question that came to me was: Is it possible to talk about a wide array of things through just one single topic, in this case, fruit?
The answer is: it depends.

Växt-verk |
Maria Högbacke och Anita Wernström |
May 21, 2015 |

With Everyone’s Imagination Atrophied, No One Will Ever Be a Threat to the World #3. |
Pavel Matveyev |
June 23, 2014 |
A Dead Beauty
Pavel Matveyev’s adolescence was spent in post-Soviet Russia. He developed as an artist in England and Sweden. One image of indisputable beauty that enchants him is that of a Russian manor house, one of the palaces of the aristocracy that abound in the Moscow region. In the days of the Soviet Union, when, after the revolution, their owners had either emigrated or been exterminated, most of the manor houses were found in complete disrepair. They only had a chance of survival if they were used as sanatoriums or children’s hospitals, although they were little suited for medicinal purposes.

Your application is pending |
Anna Sörenson |
March 7, 2013 |
When I was in America last year I bought a hat. The hat had a label that read: “Genuine Government Issue ”. With the label in the hat, everything I did, all the decisions that I made felt “Genuinely Government Issued”. I created a watercolor series with new Departments of my own concern. I reasoned, that if the Government is going to be invested in my life some new departments would need to be constituted.
‘Your Application is Pending’ is a performance based on the piece ‘Genuine Government Issue’. The new Departments gave me the freedom to make myself the head of all of them, inviting you to apply to any single one.
Departments to apply to:
01. Department of Defense no.1
02. Department of Defense no.2
03. Department of Defense no.3
04. Department of Wool
05. Department of Love
06. Department of Despair
07. Department of Horror
08. Department of Romantic Fools
09. Department of Desire

圈(Circle) – A series of images seen |
Lena Bergendahl |
December 5, 2014 |
Lena Bergendahl's video installation at Cigarrvägen 13 examines questions about vision, perception and methods of reproduction. In this exhibition, the gallery space loses one function as a space of display and receives another: operating as part of a projector, machine component or illuminating device - the image is instead projected outside of the gallery. The space is now instead of a place where something is shown, a room that also acts itself.

Objects, sounds, shapes and texts from various sources circulate at northern cigar road pretending to be part of a play
- randomly fortunately mismatchingly bound together - yet with a sense of unity through happenstance.
They can be read as protagonists, soundtrack, script and props -
or just as single entities that happen to be at the place at the same time.
